CLOSING TIME

Today was a tornado of washing, scrubbing, cleaning, mopping, hugging, and waving. This will be our last post as we'll start making our way home tomorrow. We're so excited to see all of you and we know that your prayers supported us throughout this trip as we've seen how truly in control God is. We got in a few more minutes of quality time with our amazing Shofar students and teachers today. God's really blessed our church to be a part of what He's doing at this school. He also blessed our team with an amazing sunset last night - we couldn't resist one last group walk up the mountain for a final chance to enjoy this place. Thanks, Lord, You're GOOD!

We are now in the midst of closing preparations. The multi-cab got a bath and the clothesline is all tucked away. Various other things were cleaned and put away, but I would bore you immensely if I listed off each one. Please not only keep our final days here in prayer, but also the ministry that happens here year round among our staff and students.

GRADUATION DAY!

As we finished up the last of our projects today we also prepared for the English Class Graduation tonight.  It was a great end to the class....Erik talked a bit about Shofar, we handed out certificates, showed a video slide show of photos and videos of the class, had snacks, and of course took lots of pictures.  We also played tag with the kids that attended afterwards. It was a great way to say goodbye to all the people from the local area that we've come to know this summer. We'll miss them!

ENJOYING SHOFAR

Hi! We spent the day yesterday in Cebu running errands and today we're beginning to work on various closing projects so that we leave Shofar in tip top condition. It's a beautiful day here for it too. Thanks God! Tonight is the English class grad ceremony. I'm sure photos of that are to follow....

FIRSTS AND ALMOST LASTS....

Today was the day to get a few things done this morning before spending the rest of our day teaching in the school.  We took advantage of the nice weather and free time during lunch to eat with the kids.  Again, as we near the end of the trip I am reminded of all God has done and continues to do here!

YOU SAY GOODBYE, AND I SAY HELLO

In this final week, God has been allowing us to make new friendships, and He's been helping us finish well with relationships we've been building all summer. The pictures here show some new friends from Minglanilla, and the core group of the adult English class. And, just when we thought we'd figured out where to buy batteries at the grocery store, they threw us for a loop and filed them in the battery/grooming section next to the razors (of course.)

Today we were able to go down to the Inayawan Landfill Ministry.  We were blessed to work alongside the volunteers in that ministry as they taught the kiddos that live nearby.  We showed a video about the Good Shepherd Parable and then did a short discussion on it.  Next came worship and then the kids broke into groups based on age for a little academic learning.  Erik was able to play a multiplication game with the older boys.  After all that learning, the kids are given a meal and rice for their family for the week.  It was a really great way to spend a Saturday!

WELCOME TO THE FINAL CLASS

With just one week left here we had our last adult english class tonight.  Since it was the last class we played bingo and catagories.  We will end with a graduation ceremony Wednsday evening.  As we begin to wrap things up here we are reminded of the  memories shared by the locals about past teams showing movies at the blasketball court, etc....it is another reminder that God can and will use any situation...who knows what will happen or who God will put in their path next.  Otherwise, we spent the day in the school, finishing up projects, and we ran into town for a few supplies this afternoon.
